This year marks the 21st edition of the Gardens of Uxbridge annual garden tour. Each summer up to 8 local residences open their garden gates to welcome the public to view their garden creations.
This community event raises important funds to benefit local charities. In 2017, proceeds will support these local community organizations – The Lucy Maud Montgomery Society of Ontario and Community Care Durham-Uxbridge. The Lucy Maud Montgomery Society of Ontario also operates a National Historic Site in nearby Leaskdale – a featured site on this year’s Garden Tour.
The Tour is a showcase of the wonderful gardens of local residences in and around Uxbridge and offers a beautiful day touring the countryside surrounding the Oak Ridges Moraine. The self-guided tour takes visitors through hill and dale along the country roads surrounding the quaint town of Uxbridge and also features a number of in-town gardens.
During the event, guests are invited to walk the gardens outside of each home on the Tour between 10:00 am and 5:00 pm, rain or shine. This self-guided tour typically includes 8 gardens throughout the Township of Uxbridge and volunteers are assigned to each home to greet guests.
Each year the Gardens of Uxbridge tour is a popular way to spend a day in the countryside north of Toronto. Gather some friends for a day of touring and dining; purchase tickets as a Mother’s Day gift; or simply gather great gardening ideas.
