About Us

The Gardens of Uxbridge is an annual self-guided garden tour (with driving map provided) that has been the highlight on the Ontario garden tour calendar for over 25 years.

Each summer up to eight local residences are opened to the public.

The Tour is hosted in support of  The Lucy Maud Montgomery Society of Ontario (LMMSO) which  operates a National Historic Site in the nearby hamlet of Leaskdale, Ontario.   L.M. Montgomery, author of Anne of Green Gables and other books, lived in Leaskdale for fifteen years. Her home, church, and garden can be visited on the Tour and at other times of the year. Preview the home of Lucy Maud Montgomery here and learn about the Society’s latest initiatives and current fundraising.

The Gardens of Uxbridge tour organizing committee works in partnership with the LMMSO to produce the annual Garden Tour.

The annual event is a showcase of the outstanding gardens created by local residents on their personal property. The Tour offers a beautiful day of exploring the countryside gardens and idyllic roads through the hills and valleys of the Oak Ridges Moraine surrounding the quaint town of Uxbridge.  Meanwhile, the in-town gardens provide an opportunity to stroll through town, dine at a local cafe or restaurant, and shop along historic Brock Street.

The gardens are open between 10 am and 5 pm, rain or shine. Traditionally the garden tour occurs on the fourth Saturday in June, however in 2024, the Garden Tour is being held on the third Saturday – June 15th, 2024.

Homeowners – the gardeners themselves – are often on site to discuss their garden creations and the various plants they’ve selected.

Local artists are invited to exhibit their work in several gardens and are there to explain their inspiration and craft, while you have the opportunity to purchase their work during the tour.

The Gardens of Uxbridge Tour is a wonderful way to spend a day in the countryside north of Toronto. Gather some friends for a day of touring and dining, and source great gardening ideas, plants, and inspiration for your own garden.
